PASIGHAT, Oct 1: A three-month ‘skill development vocational training course’ on scientific mushroom cultivation began at the College of Horticulture and Forestry (CHF) here on Monday.
In his inaugural address, CHF Dean (in-charge) Prof P Debnath spoke about cultivation of oyster and other mushroom varieties for nutritional security and economic prosperity. He promised to provide technical assistance to youths and school dropouts of the region on spawn production technology and processing of oyster mushroom.
Senior entomology professor Dr DB Ahuja presented hands-on demonstration on mushroom cultivation.
The training is organized by the Imphal (Manipur)-based Central Agricultural University’s extension education directorate, and sponsored by the union power ministry’s Power Finance Corporation Ltd.
