The complainant, Toko Hinda, alleged that Das collected money from around 90 youths with the promise of a job.
“Starting in the month of August, he put up posters all around the capital complex, seeking applications for jobs in OLX. Many of us fell prey and applied. He sought Rs 350 as registration fee, and another Rs 2000 for accommodation and training. Several youths paid money in the hope of landing a job,” said Hinda.
However, they soon realized that things were fishy.
“Our training was supposed to start from September month but it kept getting postponed. Das started avoiding the candidates after collecting the money, and kept on offering excuses. Our hard-earned money has been lost, and we appeal to the police to strongly punish him,” said Hinda.
Many such fake job rackets have been busted in recent years, and several youths have lost money to these fraudsters.
