ITANAGAR, Oct 14: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Dr BD Mishra and his wife Neelam Misra attended the 36th Sharodiya Durga Puja celebration here at the P-sector Kali Mandir.
The governor unveiled the idol of Goddess Durga and lighted the traditional lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that the main asset of festivals is well being of all, including the flora and fauna.
“The rituals and traditions embody positivity, knowledge, creativity and goodwill. Therefore, the customs and devotional rituals must be preserved, practiced and propagated,” the governor said.
Guest artist Ramanuj Dasgupta, accompanied by expert tabla player Sunayana Ghosh and musician Sukhendu Shekhar Das from Kolkata, rendered melodious bhajans at the function.
Organized by the Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Itanagar and Rajdhani Sarbojanin Puja Committee, large number of people from all walks of life attended the programme. (PRO to Raj Bhavan)
