AALO, Oct 16: Thousands of women from 32 sectors of Aalo town and adjoining villages thronged the Nehru Chowk Tinali here and took out a procession till the Gumin Kiin to celebrate the Nyirmen festival on Monday.
NFCC president, Jumken Doji Ete, secretary Kenli Ete, vice president Kenli Lollen, secretary Galo Ane Higam Loyi Ango and secretary NFCC women wing Gedam Ete Kamchi spoke on the significance and mythological aspects of Nyirmen festival and stressed on the need to inculcate values among the young generations.
Later, West Siang GWS president Dr Nyage Geyi released the ‘Nyirmen Souvenir’, while West Siang GWS secretary Nyage Loya distributed prizes for cultural, quiz and traditional weaving competition organised during the celebration.
Traditional dance like Erap, Tanu Nunam and Hogam Ponam were also performed on the occasion. (DIPRO)
