AVP’s indigenous games and sports meet ends
KHONSA, Nov 4: Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh urged the youths of Tirap district to take up physical fitness activities and avoid addictive substances to live healthy lives.
He was addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the 2nd Indigenous Games & Sports Meet organized by the Arunachal Vikas Parishad’s (AVP) district sports & culture centre at Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.
Lauding the district’s sportspersons for bringing laurels to Tirap in the last few years, the MLA urged the programme’s organisers to ensure mass participation in such events, and assured to contribute from his side during the sports meet next year.
SP Jitendra Kumar Meena in his speech informed that at least 17 police personnel, including two sub-inspectors, have been recruited from Tirap district under the sports quota. He appealed to the youths not to indulge in unlawful activities and give more importance to games and sports in addition to their studies.
DSO (Sports) Noah Mongku also spoke.
The MLA and the SP distributed certificates to the winners of competitive sports events in various categories. (DIPRO)
