TEZU, Nov 6: Drawing and disbursing officers (DDO), accountants, data operators and dealing assistants participated in a workshop on ‘TDS under GST’, organised here by the Lohit district tax & excise department on Tuesday.
Tax & Excise Superintendent (in-charge) Damchen Norbu urged the DDOs to follow the government’s instruction to implement the objective of ‘One nation one tax’, saying several DDOs in the district are yet to register under the GST.
“As per the government directive, every DDO is required to register under the GST, and TDS is a mandatory part of DDOs from 1 October, 2018,” he said.
“All DDOs should file TDS every succeeding month, before the tenth day of the month, failing which penalty, interest and late fee will be realized from the DDOs concerned,” he said.
SDO Kajal Karmakar requested the DDOs and officials to learn the technicalities during the workshop and maintain the timeframe set by the government on TDS on GST.
Tax & Excise Inspector Luvjoy Choker clarified on issues raised by the participants. He invited them to visit the tax & excise office to avail of GST registration and TDS, and to resolve any issues relating to GST.
