KAMBA, Nov 9: Education Minister Honchun Ngandam on Friday inaugurated the extended library building and the boys’ common room at Donyi Polo Government College (DPGC) here in West Siang district.
The minister also laid the foundation stone for the college’s science block.
In his address, Ngandam urged the teaching community to stress on providing quality education, and advised the students to concentrate on their academic activities.
Local MLA Nyamar Karbak said the college, which was established in 1996, during the tenure of former education minister Lijum Ronya, is progressing smoothly with improvement in infrastructure and introduction of several new streams.
He said that, with introduction of the science stream at DPGC, the students of West Siang, Si Yomi, Lepa Rada and Lower Siang districts would be benefitted.
Karbak meanwhile directed the district administration to immediately ban illegal sale of alcohol and all types of pan masala items in Kamba circle.
Among others, DC in-charge Nampang Wangjen, DDSE Eto Ete, Kamba ADC Gobi Negyior and DPGC Principal Dr Rejir Karlo addressed the function.
