PASIGHAT, Nov 22: Jawarharlal Nehru College (JNC) here in East Siang district conducted a drama workshop titled ‘Natak evam manchan’ from 5-19 November “to promote dramatic instincts” and encourage co-curricular activities among the students.
An initiative of the college’s NSS unit, the workshop saw the participation of 18 students learning under the guidance of National School of Drama alumnus Manoj Kumar Sharma, who assisted the participants in honing their dramatic talent and taught various aspects of drama and its staging.
During the valedictory function on 20 November, JNC Principal Dr Milorai Modi described drama as “a powerful means of portraying a culture,” and advocated promoting more such extracurricular activities in the college.
Vice Principal Dr SD Choudhury, NAAC coordinator SN Jha and IQAC coordinator SN Yadav also gave their inputs on the importance of such workshops.
A cultural programme was organized, during which students performed a drama on the Adi folktale ‘Nibo and Robo’.
