NAMSAI, Nov 24: MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom on Saturday said the present government is focussed on spreading developmental activities in each and every part of the state, especially in the education and health sectors.
Addressing a programme organized here by the Namsai district library to inculcate the reading habit among the adolescent girls of Namsai and Lekang circles, the MLA lauded the public libraries’ activities in the state, and called for modernizing the district library here.
“Such awareness programmes will immensely help to inculcate the reading habit and the joy of reading in adolescent girls,” the MLA said.
He paid the membership fees of all 100 participating adolescent girls, who obtained their library membership on the spot.
Deputy Commissioner Tapasya Raghav said the adolescent stage is the most crucial part of an individual’s growth. She advised the students to refrain from “all awful habits which can spoil their future,” and urged them to “evolve into the teaching-learning process and creative social activities.”
The DC assured to extend all possible support for the betterment of adolescent girls of the area.
Besides others, librarian S Mukherjee, Namsai CDPO W Khimhun and Lekang CDPO S Namsum also spoke.
