PASIGHAT, Nov 27: The traditional archery competition, which was organized by the 1862 Light Regiment of the Sigar military station, concluded at Giidii Notko here in East Siang district on Monday.
Toni Megu of Ayeng village won the first position in the competition, while Kasem Tayeng of Sigar village and Kanggong Tayeng of Ayeng village secured the second and third position, respectively.
Commanding Officer Col Ankur Kulin, who gave away the prizes to the winners, exhorted the participants to restore the glory of the traditional cultures, which he said is gradually disappearing due to various reasons.
Lt Col Ashish Saxena supervised the competition.
Over 20 villages participated in the first phase of the competition. The second phase will be conducted on 2 December on the same ground, where the top three prize winners of the competitions which were held at Aalo, Likabali, Bada Rupok and Rayang Army stations will take part.
