PASIGHAT, Dec 12: The Field Outreach Bureau (FOB), Ministry of Information & Broadcast, on Wednesday organized a rally cum awareness programme under the banner of Special Outreach Programme on National Nutrition Mission at Mongku village under East Siang district.
The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among the rural people about the nutrition. Programme was started with mass awareness rally. In his address Mihir Kumar Jha, Field Publicity Officer, FOB, Pasighat briefed the gathering about national nutrition mission and said that balanced diet with proper nutrients play a important role in daily life.
Ponong Ering Angu, Dy. Director, ICDS, Pasighat said that national nutrition mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan on 8th March 2018 to remove stunting and undernourishment in children & pregnant women. She also disclosed that target is to cover more than 10 crore people and reduce stunting among children in the age group of 0-6 years from 38.4% to 25% in the country and from 29% to 25% in Arunachal by 2022.
Resource person of the programme, Dr G Borang, SMO, PHC, Balek briefed the gathering about general nutrition and said that nutritional foods are very important for human body. He also explained about balanced nutritional food and the diseases that occur in absence of balanced diet.
About 200 villagers including HGB, GB, Village Secretary and Anganwadi workers from nearby villages participated in the programme. A quiz competition was also organized.
