ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Hundreds of worshipers attended the inauguration of the new Catholic cathedral here at Nyokum Lapang on Sunday amid much fanfare and religiosity. The Itanagar Bishop John Thomas Kattrukudiyil led the inauguration mass along with Archbishop Rev. Dr. John Moolachira of Guwahati.
Fr CC Jose, a pioneer missionary, in his brief sermon during the Eucharistic celebration stated that this is people’s church built with people’s contribution. He also spoke about journey of the church from a thatched roof in the past to present RCC building.
Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso in his address said Christianity has changed the way of living of Nyishi community and said it brought positive change in the society.
