KHONSA, Dec 12: The maiden sports meet in Tirap under Khelo India programme concluded at Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
The Govt. Town Sec. School, Khonsa and Football KGBV, Barap were the winners of the boys’ and girls football respectively.
The Govt. Town Sec. School beat Govt. Sec. School, Lazu while KGBV, Barap defeated Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Khonsa in the finals to become winners.
Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Khonsa won the volleyball title in the boys’ category beating Govt. Sec. School, Kapu.
KGBV, Barap also won the girls’ volleyball title beating Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Khonsa in the final.
Commandant of 26 Bn CRPF Satya Ranjan Behura attended the closing function and distributed the trophies and prizes to the winners.
Apart from football and volleyball, the sports meet included athletics, badminton, judo, karate, table tennis, taekwondo and Wushu.
Around 1000 athletes of both sexes participated in the five-day meet, informed District Sports Officer Noah Mongku.
The sports meet was conducted with active support from 16 Assam Rifles, 36 Bn CRPF and district administration led by Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon.
