AYENG, Jan 10: Itanagar-based NE regional centre (NERC) of the GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment & Sustainable Development (GBPNIHESD) organised a stakeholders’ consultative workshop, under the project ‘Enhancing eco-cultural livelihoods in biodiversity rich areas of Arunachal Himalaya’, here in East Siang district on 10 January.
During the workshop, NERC scientist MS Lodhi presented a talk on the objectives of the project and the progress made under it, particularly in training and capacity building of stakeholders.
He requested the participants, which included local community representatives, village heads, anchal samiti members and NGO representatives, to participate actively and provide inputs.
Pasighat College of Horticulture Assistant Professor Dr DK Pandey apprised the participants of the available potential for livelihood development in the region, and assured to extend all possible support to the community.
Tourism Information Officer Darang presented a lecture on sustainable ecotourism development in the district, while progressive farmer Punto Perme shared some ideas.
