NAMSAI, Dec 11: A large number of people participated in a Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) camp organized here by the Namsai district election office on Friday.
Addressing the participants, DC Tapasya Raghav spoke about the Election Commission of India’s directive to all the BLOs to organize SVEEP camps for persons with disabilities in locations where they can easily reach to get acquainted with the election process.
She requested the gaon burahs (GB) to organize gram sabhas in every village to generate awareness among the villagers and encourage them to exercise their franchise, saying the administration would provide the logistic support in this matter.
“No voter should be left behind in the forthcoming election, and all arrangements will be made to ensure free and fair election in the district,” Raghav said.
Welcoming the newly-enrolled electors (18-19 years age group), the DC said “the youths are the main recourse of our country, and their participation in the democratic process is vital.”
ADC Bijoy Talukdar also spoke.
BLOs, BLAs, members of the electoral literacy club, GBs, public leaders, HoDs, ASHAs, anganwadi workers, students and teachers from various schools of the district participated in the programme.
