ITANAGAR, Jan 12: The general officer commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s Dimapur (Nagaland)-based 3 Corps, Lt Gen Rajeev Sirohi, called on Governor BD Mishra at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday.
The two discussed border security issues of Arunachal Pradesh and promotion of recruitment of local youths into the army.
The governor expressed confidence in the security deployment to defend the borders, and commended the army for maintaining peace and tranquility in the state despite many challenges.
Expressing hope that the army units would motivate and facilitate the youths of the state in joining the armed forces, Mishra also suggested holding health awareness camps, games and sports promotional activities and primary level educational initiatives for the benefit of the children in the far-flung villages collocated with the army posts.
Earlier, the GOC of Tenga-based 5 Mountain Division, Maj Gen RK Jha, had called on the governor and briefed him on the security scenario in the division’s sector, and on the civil-military cooperation there. (Raj Bhavan)
