PUNE, Jan 14: Adding to Arunachal’s medal tally, Christina Tayeng won the silver in the 81 kg women’s weightlifting category in the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) in Pune, Maharashtra, by lifting 65 kgs in snatch and 85 kgs in clean & jerk, for a total of 145 kgs, on Monday.
The Arunachal girls have so far outshone the boys in terms of medal hauls. The final medal tally of the state in weightlifting in the KIYG now stands at nine, with four silver and five bronze medals.
All the girl weightlifters who have bagged the medals are from the SAI’s SAG Centre, Naharlagun.
