Itanagar to soon get cremation ground

ITANAGAR, Jan 18: The construction of the cremation ground near Chimpu is on the verge of completion.
Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso on Friday inspected the ongoing work and declared that the state capital would soon get its first “full-fledged cremation ground with proper facilities.”
Kaso, who was accompanied by officers of the urban development department and local leaders of Chimpu, said Rs 1.8 crore has been approved for completion of the remaining work, like CC pavement road, drainage, formation cutting, and retaining wall.
He directed the department’s officers to immediately start the work for installing water and power supply for the cremation ground.
“This project was conceptualized to meet the demand of the public of the capital complex who face difficulties in cremating their deceased. At present they have to take the dead bodies to Laluk (in Assam) for the last rites and have to incur heavy expenditure,” said Kaso, adding that the cremation ground in Karsingsa would not be utilized further “due to several bottlenecks.”
The MLA requested the local leaders to constitute a committee to look after the cremation ground.
Former IMC councillor Biri Tukdo and former ASM Bamang Aman also accompanied the MLA during the inspection.
