APCC to stage protests against CAB

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has announced to launch a statewide agitation against the citizenship amendment bill (CAB).
“Peaceful demonstration-cum-protest rallies” will be held on 24 January across the state against the CAB, the APCC stated in a release. The rally in the state capital will start at 10 am from Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan and culminate at the state secretariat’s main gate, it said.
Members of all the District, City and Block Congress Committees will be part of the protest, the APCC said.
The Congress party condemned the CAB, terming it an “unconstitutional, communal and draconian bill.”
It said the bill was “a free licence to the refugees, foreigners and illegal migrants to gain citizenship, and is a big threat to the indigenous people of the Northeast region.”
The APCC urged organisations, civil society groups, government employees, youths, senior citizens, men and women to adopt a similar resolution to save “Ane (mother) Arunachal” from the CAB.
