AALO, Jan 25: The special enrollment camp for members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) under the PMJJBY, the PMSBY and the CMAAY reached West Siang district on Thursday.
The camp here was launched by AAPPTF president Dobing Sonam in the presence of District Transport Officer Hummo Taipodiya and others.
Taipodiya urged all members of the federation to get enrolled under the schemes, and to encourage others to follow suit. He also urged them to disseminate information about the schemes.
“Even though the premiums of these insurance schemes are meagre, they can be of tremendous help during medical emergencies,” the DTO said.
Earlier, Sonam said thousands of transport body members and other citizens enrolled under the schemes during the camps held at Itanagar and Naharlagun earlier this month. He thanked the state government for extending support to the federation for the campaign.
Meanwhile, an ‘awareness camp-cum-interaction programme’ on traffic rules and issues faced by the transport federation members was also held.
During the interaction, AAPPTF West Siang district president Kirdo Ete said the owners and drivers of commercial vehicles are facing a lot of issues in obtaining plying permits due to the bifurcation of West Siang and creation of new districts.
Sonam assured to look into the issue, and urged the state government to designate single zonal offices for West Siang, Shi Yomi and Lepa Rada districts.
The day also saw the nomenclature of the Maxicab Association being changed to the West Siang Tata Sumo Union.
