ITANAGAR, Feb 3: Donggin festival of the Adi community was celebrated all over the state with traditional gaiety and fervour on Saturday.
Attending the festivity at the Mopin-Solung ground here, Environment & Forests Minister Nabam Rebia advised the young generation to preserve the tradition and culture of the community and not dilute their cultural identity for the sake of modernity.
Commending the Adi community for pioneering education and culture in the state, he asked them to play a pivotal role in guiding the other communities of the state in promoting tradition and culture.
Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso extended Donggin greetings to the Adi community of the state, and assured to have a cement concrete road laid up to the Solung-Mopin ground before the celebration of the Solung festival in September.
Participating in the programme, engineer Getom Borang lauded the organisers for organising the festival in Itanagar, and requested everyone to preserve their tradition and culture.
Beautiful modern dance, folk dance and traditional group dances were performed by different cultural troupes to mark the Donggin festival celebration in Itanagar.
The celebration committee’s general secretary, Tapang Yapi, read out the Donggin mythology. The committee’s president Tabang Bodung, and chief patron Tashor Pali also spoke. PTI
