PEDUNB, Feb 9: The sixth edition of the 10-day Pedung Archery Tournament, organized by the Pedung Archery Club, got underway here in West Siang district on Friday.
Bomdila monastery abbot Guru Tulku Namdrol Legrap, who kicked off the tournament, advised the people to preserve their traditional sports, and urged the youths to take up archery as a career.
Ten teams, including two women’s team, are participating in the tournament.
In the opening match in the men’s category, between Pedung Archery Club and Jamyang, the former defeated the latter, while in the women’s category, team Family Line Two won by scoring 118 points against team Family Line One’s 104 points.
Dongtang of Pedung Archery Club and Sonam Pema from team Family Line Two were declared man and the woman of the match, respectively.
