ITANAGAR, Feb 9: Education Minister Honchun Ngandam advised all stakeholders of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in the state to play a proactive role to develop the state.
He was speaking during an NSS advisory committee meeting held here on Friday. The meeting was also attended by, among others, Education Secretary Madhu Rani Teotia, Guwahati-based NSS Regional Director Dipak Kumar, and Dera Natung Government College Principal Dr NT Rikam.
Teotia in her address suggested “re-appropriation of NSS volunteers of 13,800 among 101 units of the state as per their achievements.”
She said the NSS should focus on “activities like midday meal, vidya samridhhi, sanitary pads, textbooks, uniforms, attendance of teachers and students, etc,” apart from the regular activities like blood donation, plantation, cleanliness drives, etc.
Teotia also stressed the need for establishing a training centre, either at RGU or the Arunachal University of Studies, for training and orientation of NSS programme officers.
