ROING, Feb 11: The 30th Road Safety Week, themed ‘Sadak suraksha, jeevan raksha’, observed by the police in Lower Dibang Valley district, concluded here on Sunday with vehicle checks and distribution of pamphlets by a joint team of the police, the APP Bn and the IRBn, under the supervision of SP Sanjay Kumar Sain.
Banners displaying road safety measures were installed in different parts of the town, and
wall paintings on the subject were also done around the township. The police department also distributed pamphlets among the public at the Shantipur check gate.
Earlier in the week, intensive vehicle checks were carried out and fines were imposed on drivers of two- and four-wheelers who were found violating traffic rules and regulations.
An essay competition on the week’s theme was conducted at the VKV. Fifty-eight students from different schools of the district participated in it.
In East Siang HQ Pasighat, the Road Safety Week observance concluded with various activities to create public awareness on road safety.
During the weeklong observance, the district police headed by SP Prashant Gautam organized intensified public awareness programmes on traffic rules to persuade people to follow the rules while on the road and reduce casualties.
Sixty-seven students from 12 schools of Pasighat participated in a drawing competition on ‘Sadak suraksha, jeevan raksha’ conducted at Reserve Police Line on Sunday.
Educational banners, safety posters, leaflets, etc, related to road safety were also distributed to commuters.
