DECHENGTHANG, Feb 14: The tourism department on Thursday adopted Dechengthang in Shi-Yomi district as a model village for developing tourism assets in the village.
Addressing the villagers, Mechuka ADC Manjuli Komut emphasized on protecting the local culture, food and architecture “that have so much to offer to the tourists.”
Tourist Information Officer Bishal Aran urged the villagers to keep the village clean and plastic-free and ban poaching of wild animals and birds.
Aran enumerated the benefits of operating homestay facilities, and sought cooperation from the village community for proper implementation of tourism projects “to make the village an example for others to emulate.”
