TAWANG, Feb 14: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday announced that a new airport for Tawang is on the cards as the Airports Authority of India has identified land in the district for establishing the airstrip.
Khandu said this while attending the Losar festival celebration here, accompanied by MLAs Tsering Tashi, Jambey Tashi and Phurpa Tsering.
Extending Losar greetings to the people here, the CM assured to push for immediate construction of the airport, which he said can be used for both civilian and defence purposes.
“Tawang being a tourism hotspot, the government has taken up several initiatives to develop it,” he said, adding that a walkthrough market is being developed in the town, “which will be more beautiful than the popular MG Marg in Gangtok.”
Khandu also said Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned for laying a CC road in the market here. (CMO)
