Mein inaugurates playground

MOTUM, Feb 18: Deputy CM Chowna Mein on Monday inaugurated a playground here in Mebo subdivision of East Siang district.
He also launched the Chief Minister’s Adarsh Gram Yojana (CMAGY).
“The state government has initiated various measures for the welfare of the people, and the CMAGY is one of them,” Mein said. “Under the CMAGY, a village is adopted in each constituency and developed as a model village.”
Mein enumerated some of the major assets developed in Mebo constituency, such as the musup (community hall) in Motum, a school auditorium in Borguli, and a soundproof community hall in Mebo.
The DCM also said all the district headquarters would be interconnected by air service once the airport in Hollongi comes up.
Responding to a memorandum submitted by Mebo MLA Lombo Tayeng and the public of Mebo, the DCM assured to provide fund for the Mebo-Patan Korong road via Sigar military station, flood protection against the Siku river, and a spectators’ gallery at the newly-inaugurated general ground here.
Tayeng informed that Motum village has been selected as an adarsh village under the CMAGY, and CGI sheets have been distributed to 39 beneficiaries under the scheme, with each beneficiary receiving 70 sheets.
“Rs 35400 each will directly be transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT,” Tayeng said.
The MLA sought fund for flood protection against the Siku river. “The river changes its course every year towards the western bank, which is posing a serious threat not only to the bridge over the river but also National Highway 13, which connects Mebo with Pasighat,” he said.
State BJP president Tapir Gao, East Siang DC Kinny Singh, and Mebo ADC Hage Lailang also spoke. (DCMO)
