ZIRO, Feb 28: The Lower Subansiri District Task Force on Immunization held a meeting here on Thursday to discuss methods to strengthen the regular immunization micro-planning, and introduction of the Adult DT (diphtheria-tetanus) vaccine that will replace the TT vaccine.
Chairing the meeting, ADC Gombu Tsering called for “accurate data collection at the grassroots level for optimal micro-plans.”
He emphasized the need for coordination among the ASHAs, anganwadi workers, panchayat members and GBs for generating an error- and duplicity-free database.
Tsering also emphasized the need for building the capacity of the frontline workers, conducting regular review meetings, and ensuring supportive supervision for mid-course corrections.
“As per the directives of the health & family welfare ministry, the TT vaccine will be replaced by DT vaccines,” informed DRCHO Dr Derin Likar.
Explaining the newly-introduced DT vaccines, he said Arunachal Pradesh would be the first state in the country to prepare a regular immunization micro-plan, with the support of the WHO-NPSP.
This, he said, would go a long way in preparing an effective micro-plan and create opportunities for monitoring and supervision.
The meeting was attended by, among others, DMO Dr Tage Kano and Medical Superintendent Dr Kime Horming. (DIPRO)
