ITANAGAR, Mar 23: Tailyang Cosy of Arunachal Pradesh got selected in the final squad of the Under-16 boys’ national football team.
Cosy will be travelling to South Africa on Sunday along with other team members to participate in the ‘Future Champions’ invitational football tournament in Johannesburg.
He was undergoing training at the national preparation camp in Odisha.
Unfortunately, another boy from the state, Tagru James, could not make it to the final squad.
Cosy is the son of Tailyang Tajang and Millo Riniya (Tailyang) of Kalung Village in Lower Subansiri district.
A student of Good Shepherd School in Pappu Nallah near Naharlagun, Cosy plays for his club, Todo United FC.
“We are very happy and proud of Cosy’s selection. I would like to thank the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) for providing such a big platform to our son, and also for their constant support throughout the selection process,” said Cosy’s father Tajang.
APFA secretary Kipa Ajay also expressed happiness over Cosy’s selection in the national team.
“We are very proud of him and his achievement. His selection in national team will definitely inspire others to work hard to fulfill their dreams of becoming good players,” Ajay said.
“We (APFA) always endeavour to provide the best of the best platform to our players,” he said, terming it a momentous day for football in Arunachal Pradesh.
