ITANAGAR, Mar 23: The Indian National Congress (INC) late Saturday evening released the names of 53 candidates for the state assembly election, even as the last day of nomination, Monday, is just a day away.
Among the notable candidates are Thupten Kunphen, who will be contesting for the Mukto seat, Tsering Gyurme for the Dirang seat, and Jora Doka for the Chayangtajo seat.
Former minister Atum Welly has been named as the party’s candidate for the Pakke-Kessang constituency, Sorsomi Degio for Seppa West, and Nabam Tuki for Sagalee.
Tanga Byaling will fight for the Nacho seat, while Ninong Ering and Bosiram Siram will contest for Pasighat West and Pasighat East, respectively. JK Panggeng has been named as the candidate for the Mariyang-Geku constituency.
Khunang Kri will contest for the Chowkham seat, Wanglin Lowangdong for the Borduria-Bogapani seat, and Komoli Mossang for the Nampong seat.
Confusion prevails
Meanwhile, confusion prevails over the party’s ticket for the Doimukh assembly constituency.
Former Papum Pare zilla parishad chairman Nabam Rana had earlier on Saturday claimed that he had filed his nomination for the seat as a Congress candidate. However, his name does not figure in the INC’s list, and the party has instead named Nabam Vivek as its candidate for the Doimukh constituency.
It is to be noted that Vivek’s name had earlier been on the National People’s Party’s list of candidates who had been offered tickets.
