PASIGHAT, Mar 23: A three-day training programme on ‘integrated pest management in horticultural crops’ began at the College of Horticulture and Forestry’s (CHF) plant protection department here in East Siang district on Saturday.
During the first day’s training, which saw the participation of 70 trainees from different parts of the district, CHF Dean Prof BN Hazarika spoke about pest management in horticultural crops like litchi, citrus and vegetables.
Urging the trainees to opt for organic farming, he assured to provide technical assistance to the farmers.
Senior professor Dr DB Ahuja presented hands-on demonstration on integrated pest management in horticultural crops, while principal investigator Dr RK Patidar briefed about organic pesticides and the initiatives sponsored by the ICAR’s Bengaluru-based National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources under the Tribal Sub Plan for the Northeast region’s farmers.
