ITANAGAR, Mar 25: The tax, excise & narcotics department has issued a notice regarding the process of seizing, treatment and disposal of liquors by various authorities and teams as per the order issued by the department in view of the upcoming elections.
Liquors are to be seized by an excise officer not below the rank of an excise inspector, and the seized items are to be immediately brought to the notice of the district nodal officer (excise) for further action, said the notice issued by Tax, Excise & Narcotics Commissioner Anirudh Singh.
A detailed inventory of the seized liquors is to be prepared and a seizure memo drawn on a prescribed format as per the rules, it said.
“The excise officer(s) will submit the seizure memo and register an offence under Section 34 (a) of the AP Excise Act, 1993, and rules in the court of the jurisdictional executive magistrate,” the notice said.
As per the notice, the seized liquors will have to be destroyed in front of cameras by the district nodal officer (excise) after obtaining orders from the jurisdictional executive magistrate, as well as issuing a public notice informing all concerned about its doing so.
The jurisdictional executive magistrate is also to be present during the process of destroying, it said.
