DIRANG, Mar 29: A minor incident occurred here in West Kameng district on Friday morning when three members of a group of agitated youths allegedly pelted stones at Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s convoy.
Sources said the CM was en route to West Siang HQ Aalo from Tawang when the incident occurred. He was leaving from the Pemaling Hotel here, after an interaction with the public.
The group of youths, which had been seeking an appointment with the CM, became agitated at his early departure, and started sloganeering against him.
The youths then allegedly pelted stones at the CM’s convoy.
However, an eyewitness claimed that it was not actually stone pelting. “Rather, a flower pot fell and hit the CM’s car unintentionally,” he said.
Confirming the incident, West Kameng SP Raja Banthia said no damage was done to the CM’s carcade. He said the CM was safely escorted out of the hotel.
Khandu met representatives of different groups in Dirang, but he had to rush for the chopper for Aalo to attend the prime minister’s rally.
