KHARSANG, Apr 4: Acting deputy chief minister Chowna Mein on Thursday urged the people here in Changlang district “not to trust the false assurances of the Congress party.”
Addressing a BJP rally at the Moh-Mol general ground on Thursday, Mein also urged the people not to blame acting chief minister Pema Khandu over the permanent resident certificate (PRC) issue, saying it was “a well-planned move by the Congress to tarnish the hard-earned image of the BJP and its members.”
He said, “Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Takam Sanjoy had pressed for granting PRCs when he was the joint high power committee chairman, and created commotion when we tried to solve the issue.”
Mein said the state government had merely tried to solve the PRC issue on humanitarian grounds, and gave assurance that the government would not compromise on the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act.
Asking party workers to be dedicated and sincere towards their responsibilities, Mein said Kharsang has witnessed tremendous development in road connectivity, education, health, and administrative reforms under the BJP government.
“These developmental activities could only be achieved because of the development-oriented mentality of the people of Kharsang,” he added.
The party’s Miao candidate, Kamlung Mossang, also highlighted the developmental activities carried out in the two-and-a-half years of the BJP’s governance.
Taking a hit at the opposition, Mossang said the Congress should “stop pouring false allegations on the BJP and instead campaign on developmental aspects.”
State BJP president Tapir Gao claimed that “the Congress would never regain its power in the state” as the party has filed nominations in only 46 seats while the BJP has fielded candidates in all 60 assembly constituencies, along with the two Lok Sabha constituencies.
Acting sports minister Dr Mohesh Chai also attended the campaign rally and spoke of the various developmental activities in the district.
