Skill development course underway

TEZU, Apr 23: As many as 250 students from different streams are undergoing a three-month-long ‘skill-based course on courier delivery executive’ along with basic computer course which began at Indira Gandhi Government College (IGGC) here in Lohit district on Tuesday.
An initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, the course is being conducted by the college in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation, New Delhi.
On successful completion of the course, the participants will receive a scholarship of Rs 5000 each.
Meanwhile, the IGGC’s career counselling cell organised a programme on ‘career after graduation’, in collaboration with Namsai-based Arunachal University of Studies, on Tuesday.
Addressing the participants, IGGC Principal Dr Kangki Megu advised the students to choose the right courses after graduation, and motivated them to pursue higher studies in different universities and colleges, both in and outside the state.
Prof Geeta Goswami made a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the different higher education courses available after graduation. She advised the students to pursue professional courses such as LLB, LLM, BEd, MEd, DELEd, MA, MSc, MCom, etc.
The career counselling cell’s coordinator, Dr Tage Yama, along with assistant coordinator Dr SK Pradhan also spoke.
The programme was attended by about 230 students and faculty members.
