GB allegedly shot dead in poll-related incident

KOLORIANG/ITANAGAR Apr 25: In a poll-related incident, a goan burah (GB), identified as Bengia Tamang (42), was allegedly shot dead by a BJP supporter at the Taba polling station under the Koloriang assembly constituency in Kurung Kumey district on Thursday afternoon.
A report from Koloriang said the incident occurred in the afternoon when the victim along with other NPP supporters was en route to the Taba polling station where re-polling has been fixed on Saturday (27 April).
The deceased is reportedly from Pakpuh village under Koloriang circle. Taba polling station is considered to be a stronghold of BJP candidate Lokam Tassar.
The body of the deceased is being kept at Pagam village, and the family members of the deceased have left Koloriang for Pagam to collect the body, the report added.
When contacted, the Kurung Kumey SP and the district electoral officer said they were yet to receive official details of the incident.
