DC advocates collective effort to ensure cleanliness

PASIGHAT, Apr 26: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Kinny Singh has called for coordinated efforts by all the stakeholders to make Pasighat a clean town.
Addressing administrative officers, officials of the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) and representatives of NGOs and SHGs during a meeting here on Friday, Singh stressed on generating awareness about cleanliness at the household level, and asked the PMC executive engineer to prepare a roster of the personnel to be engaged for sweeping the streets on a daily basis.
She also called for identifying common garbage collection points at the ward level with proper signage for the convenience of the citizens.
On traffic regulation, the DC advocated initiating a holistic approach to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
“Proper planning for land use, along with pay-parking system might be the most desirable solution to the chronic traffic problem,” the DC said, and directed the authorities to introduce parking charges at the designated municipal parking lots with immediate effect.
NGO Donyi Ane’s chairman Paktin Bagbi informed that GPS tracking system would be introduced shortly by the PMC for solid waste management.
The standard operating procedure for door-to-door garbage collection was also discussed in the meeting. (DIPRO)
