ITANAGAR, Apr 29: The 50th regional sports meet of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) was organised at KV No 2 here from 27 to 29 April.
The sports meet (boys’) which was held in the U-14, U-17 and U-19 age categories, included badminton, Taekwondo and Judo.
Besides students of the host school, 93 students from various KVs from Tinsukia (Assam) region, accompanied by 19 teachers, participated in the championship, according to a press release from KV No 2 here.
A total of 31 gold, 17 silver and 20 bronze medals were won by the students in various categories.
Yashas and Kamre Alam of KV No 2, Itanagar, won a gold medal each in Judo in the U-17 category, while Indrajeet, Ajay, Ritesh and Bishal bagged gold medals in Judo in the U-19 category.
Nokdon and Parker Ngomdir bagged gold and silver, respectively, in Taekwondo in the U-17 category.
All the gold medallists have secured their place in the National Sports Meet.
Jayant Baiplawat and Granth Kaushik of the same school won bronze medals in badminton (U-14).
Vice Principal KR Meena, who attended the valedictory function here on Monday, spoke about the importance of games and sports in the overall development of students.
ITBP DIG Sunil Chandra Mamgain attended the opening ceremony on 27 April.
