Two arrested in GB murder case

ITANAGAR, May 2: Two persons, identified as Lokam Talo and Lokam Baba, have been arrested in the gaon burah (GB) Bengia Tamang murder case, while one Lokam Kani, the third alleged accused, is absconding.
Tamang was shot dead near Taba village in Kurung Kumey district on 25 April, reportedly in a poll-related incident.
Investigation is underway and the case has been transferred to the SIT, PHQ, for thorough inquiry, said a police statement.
Following the incident, the police, under the guidance of DIGP (West Range) Apur Bitin and Kurung Kumey SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, formed a special team of officers, comprising DSP Tokin Saring, DSP Basar, Inspector Techi Nega, SI N Tao and STF commandoes, which raided various hideouts in Taba and Damin from 27 to 30 April, resulting in the arrest of Talo and Baba, it said.

Candlelight march held for slain GB

Members of the Bengia Welfare Society (BWS) staged a candlelight march in Kurung Kumey HQ Koloriang on Wednesday as a mark of respect to the departed soul of Pakpu village gaon burah Bengia Tamang, who was killed near Taba village in Damin circle on 25 April.
The peaceful march began at Old Bazaar and culminated near the DC office.
The BWS demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the killing of Tamang, and granting of relief to the bereaved family.
