Student commits suicide after failing CBSE exam

ITANAGAR, May 3: A Class 12 student in Tawang district reportedly committed suicide on Thursday after she failed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination.
The student, identified as 19-year-old Rinching Drema, a native of Mago village in Jang circle of Tawang district, was studying at the government higher secondary school in Jang.
Confirming the incident, Tawang SP Sagar Singh Khalsi informed The Arunachal Times that the girl drowned herself in a water tank near the Jang waterfall sometime between 5 pm and 5:30 pm.
The SP said some residents saw the girl going alone down the path to the waterfall, and that her body was later spotted by a local in the PHED water tank nearby.
Khalsi said postmortem ascertained that the cause of the girl’s death was drowning.
The body of the 19-year-old was handed over to her family on Friday, the SP said, adding that an unnatural death case under Section 174 CrPC has been lodged and a case (No 02/19 PS Jang) has been registered.
