Voters demand re-poll

ITANAGAR, May 4: Claiming that more than 160 voters were not allowed to vote at the Rakso polling station in Palin assembly constituency in Kra Daadi district on 27 April, a group of people from the area, who claim to have been deprived of their voting rights, has demanded fresh polling in Rakso.
In a representation to the chief electoral officer here, the voters claimed that JD (U) workers obstructed them from voting by resorting to violence and physically assaulting them.
They also accused the polling officers of turning a blind eye to the violence that took place in Rakso, and further demanded that the fresh polling should be held at a “neutral place,” under strict surveillance and with adequate security measures in place.
