Arrested would-be robbers identified

ROING, May 6: The eight men who were arrested here in Lower Dibang Valley district last Saturday evening have been identified by the police.
The miscreants, who had entered Roing with the intention of robbing banks and ATMs, have been identified as Pramjyoti Pegu (40), Maneswar Lamu (30), Saddam Doley (30), Fazal Haque (32), Nirmal Das (30), Kanaram Basumatary (32), Mongol Narzary (35) and Agostine Mosihary (33).
A group of 10 robbers had sneaked into Roing, the
district headquarters of Lower Dibang Valley, in a car and three motorcycles to loot banks and ATMs, but their attempt was foiled after the arrest of eight members of the gang.
They were apprehended after a brief chase, followed by an exchange of fire. However, two members of the gang escaped under the cover of night.
Three Chinese made pistols, 12 rounds of live ammunition, a gas cutter and other implements were seized from their possession. (DIPRO)
