36 vehicle owners fined, pistol, liquor seized

ITANAGAR, May 17: The capital complex administration on Friday continued its vehicle checking drive for the second day, and imposed penalties on 36 defaulters.
Two vehicles without documents were seized, and window tints were removed from more than 350 vehicles.
The checking drive was carried out at Zero Point Tinali here by DTO Chakfa Wangsu and MVI Tania Soni, with the help of traffic police led by Inspector G Ete.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Gupta informed that similar checking drive will be continued in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Capital SP Tumme Amo said a .32 pistol with 10 live rounds was seized from one Yang Yangfo from East Kameng district during the checking drive.
“The SDPO and his party were entrusted to target vehicles used by high-class people, like Fortuners, Endeavours and Scorpios, and tinted glasses were removed from 35 such vehicles,” said Amo.
Several bottles of hard drinks and beers were also seized during the drive in Naharlagun, the SP said.
Similar checking drives were also carried out in Nirjuli and Banderdewa, and several defaulters were fined.
Gambling materials, including for housie, were also seized from different parts of Itanagar, Naharlagun and Nirjuli during the checking drives, Amo added. (With DIPRO input)
