ROING, Jun 12: A ready-to-fruit mushroom bag production unit established in Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) campus in Balek near here in Lower Dibang Valley district was inaugurated on Wednesday.
A training programme on edible mushroom cultivation for women self help groups was also conducted by Dr Meera Pandey and Dr G Senthil Kumaran from the ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru.
Senior scientist and Head of the KVK, Dr T J Ramesha spoke on health benefits of mushroom and its business aspects.
DDM NABARD Nitya Mili informed about various schemes under the NABARD and assistance it provides to the SHG, farmers club for animal husbandry, poultry farming, micro entrepreneurship training programme, etc.
A book on edible mushroom production technology in Mishmi (Idu) language was also released by organic farmer Joton Pulu.
The programme was organized by ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, under their tribal/schedule caste sub plan, in association with KVK Roing.
