Naba Ita Pulu Memorial Cup Football Tournament begins

ROING, Jun 30: Cheta FC won the opening match of the 12th Naba Ita Pulu Memorial Cup-2019 tournament, which began at the Kera-Aa jubilee ground here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Sunday.
They beat Iduli FC 3-1.
Payeng Lego scored a brace while Lakey Miwu netted a goal for the winning team. The lone goal for Iduli team was scored by Dehun Umbey.
‘Attack addiction’ and ‘Women power’ are the themes of the tournament this year.
Organized by the Naba Ita Pulu Memorial Cup Committee, with the support from the sports department, the District Olympic Association and the district administration, the tournament is being held for both the sexes.
Teams from Lower Dibang Valley, Dibang Valley, Lohit and Anjaw districts are participating in the tournament. There are 34 teams in the men’s section, and four in the women’s section. The final will be played on 28 July.
Earlier, the tournament was kicked off by the Lower Dibang Valley deputy commissioner in the presence of a gathering of football enthusiasts.Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society president Ginko Linggi was also present at the opening ceremony.
A theme song for the tournament, written by Adiju Rondo and sung by Sokhep Kri, has also been launched, informed organizing committee member Ibi Mepo.
The organizing committee has also kept prizes for the five best photographs of the tournament, in order to encourage the budding photographers of the district in photography, Mepo said.
