PASIGHAT, Jul 2: Around 600 saplings of various species were planted in and around Gumin Nagar here in East Siang district on Monday by the jawans of the 5th IRBn as part of the Van Mahotsav celebration.
Assistant Commandant Tachung Taring led the jawans during the plantation drive.
Government officials, students and local villagers also organized plantation programmes here and in Mebo as part of the weeklong celebration.
East Siang SP Prashant Gautam encouraged the jawans and the locals to carry out afforestation activities in order to reduce global warming.
Range Forest Officer Obang Tayeng was also present on the occasion.
