10 households felicitated under Swachh Sunder Sauchalaya contest

PASIGHAT, Jul 6: Certificates and cash awards were presented to 10 household beneficiaries of East Siang district from Mebo, Ruksin-Sille and Pasighat blocks by East Siang Deputy Commissioner Dr Kinny Singh at the Siang Guest House, here on Saturday.
They were awarded for their outstanding performances in spreading Swacch Bharat Mission(SBM) messages under the Swacch Sunder Sauchalaya contest (Clean Beautiful Toilets contest) in the district under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) during a felicitation programme organized by PHE & WS Division, Pasighat.
Alem Jerang of Tekang -1, Laosing Doley of Mer Village and Tarung Taning of Tigra Mirbuk were the top three winners under the category of best paintings with sanitation message of household toilets in rural areas.
In another category, the best five performers (Sarpanches) under SBM were given to Yago Mize of Tekang -II, Upok Ratan of Mebo, Onong Tadeng of Lingka village, Karo Moyong of Ralling village and Tamin Tako from Miglung Village.
Appreciating their efforts towards clean and hygienic villages, the DC said, “it can go a long way in preventing diseases and improving village sanitation in rural areas.”
The DC also emphasized the need to work towards open defecation free plus status by focusing on solid and liquid waste management.
Citing the example of Ledum village of the district, which has been recognized as the cleanest village in the district, she urged other villages to adopt proper household waste segregation and waste disposal system.
PHED AE T Padung presented the status of SBM (Gramin) by highlighting the achievements made in community sanitary complex, solid and liquid waste management, 100 percent IIHL coverage. (DIPRO)
