Fingerlings distributed to women farmers

NAMSAI, Jul 12: Fifty members from various women SHGs under the Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission (ArSRLM) in Namsai district benefitted from a free fingerling distribution programme which was organised here on 10 July to commemorate the invention of induced breeding technique of the Indian major carp by Drs Hiralal Chowdhury and KH Alikhuni in 1957.
Addressing the participants, who came from Lathao, Namsai and Piyong circles, the fisheries assistant director elaborated the ongoing schemes of the department in the district, and stressed on “commercialization of aquaculture practices and adoption of latest fish farming technology to augment fish farming in the district.”
Namsai KVK fishery scientist Dr Debasis Sasmol spoke about aquaculture practices, and urged the women farmers to adopt new technologies, while DC Tapasya Raghav said “women should come forward in order to generate employment and income in the society.”
Deputy Agriculture Director S Srivastav and District Horticulture Officer S Bhide also attended the programme. (DIPRO)
