Review meeting on NTCP held

TAWANG, Jul 19: The Tawang District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) organised a review meeting on the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) in the conference hall of the SP’s office here on Saturday.
Besides SP Sagar Singh Kalsi, DSP Sang Norbu and other police officers and personnel, the meeting was attended by APSTS Station Superintendent T Taggu and DMO Dr W Lama.
DTCC district consultant Sang Dorjee Dirkhipa reviewed the activities carried out together by the police and the DTCC for effective implementation of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003. He also made a PowerPoint presentation on the plans needed to be implemented by the police and the health department to create a tobacco-free district.
The DMO in his address explained the “importance of will power for quitting tobacco consumption and other bad habits,” and urged the participants to “adopt good behaviour and habits, so that the young ones stay away from tobacco abuse.”
He also requested the district police to act consistently against violators of the COTPA.
The SP assured of full cooperation from the police department for effective action against COPTA violators. (DIPRO)
