DC advocates consultations prior to schemes’ submission

CHANGLANG, Jul 26: Changlang DC RK Sharma urged the HoDs of the district to consult with the people at the grassroots level before forwarding schemes for submission to the planning department.
Addressing a district development committee meeting, which was also attended by MLAs Phosum Khimhun, Laisam Simai and Somlung Mossang, here on Friday, Sharma urged the departments to “come up with innovative schemes for speedy development of the area.”
Khimhun expressed his commitment to construct all-weather roads in the Changlang South constituency, and asked the HoDs to ensure quality work by monitoring the projects.
He also advocated organising skill development programmes to bring down unemployment and make the youths self-reliant.
Stating that the villagers of Khimiyang circle are facing numerous problems because of absence of officers and staff, Khimhun asked all government employees posted there to remain there.
Simai in his address advocated identifying progressive farmers and other farmers who are experts in their chosen fields, and supporting them with technical expertise.
Mossang expressed concern over the poor condition of the township roads in Bordumsa, and said restoration of roads would be his top priority, “besides improving education and health facilities in the constituency.”
He said emphasis would also be given to improve agriculture and allied activities.
